Alexander Zinoview (Russian-French, 1889-1977)

Biography

Alexander Zinoview was a Russian painter, graphic artist, and stage designer. He was born in Moscow but settled in Paris in 1908. He quickly gained recognition and exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon d'Automne. He led a busy and diverse artistic life, working for French and American magazines, decorating interiors, and designing costumes for dancers.

He was the subject of a personal exhibition at Galerie la Boëtie in 1925 and Galerie Au Portique in 1933. In 1937 he participated in the preparation of the Chaillot palace for the Exhibition Internationale. He became a French citizen in 1938 and continued to live and work in Paris until he died in 1977.
