Issachar Ryback (Jewish-Ukrainian, 1897-1935)
Biography
Issachar Ryback was a Jewish-Ukrainian artist. He studied at the Academy of Fine Art in Kyiv. In 1921 he moved to Berlin and in 1926 settled in Paris.
He exhibited at Salon des Tuileries, The Hague, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Brussels, and Antwerp.
He died in 1935, on the eve of his first large retrospective exhibition organised by Georges Wildenstein at Wildenstein Galleries in Paris.
Today a large collection of his works is held at the Issachar Ryback Museum in Bat Yam, Israel. His paintings are also in the collections of The Reuben and Edith Hecht Museum in Haifa, Israel and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Tel Aviv, Israel.
