Ola Abrahamsson (Norwegian, 1883-1980)
Biography
Ola Abrahamsson was a Norwegian painter, graphic artist, and author. He is often associated with the Lofot painters. He was educated at the Royal Drawing School (1909-1910) and the Academy of Fine Arts (1911-1913) in Oslo. In 1912 he had his exhibition debut at The Autumn Exhibition in Oslo, with his work Gammel Stall (Old Stall).
Ola Abrahamsson studied briefly in Paris (1919-1921), meeting André Lhote, Roger Bissiere, and Moïse Kisling. Between 1922 and 1926 he led an art school in Oslo (then, Kristiania).
He held a personal exhibition in Oslo in 1927 and was a member of the Bodø Art Association from 1946 onwards. In 1983, Borre Public Library organized a memorial exhibition with 61 of Abrahamsson's paintings, commemorating the centenary of his birth.
